Assistant Senior Social Worker

Role & Responsibilities

Case Management

• Hold a complex, high-intensity caseload with discipline, rigour, and strong follow-through
• Conduct in-depth biopsychosocial assessments of residents and families with a trauma-informed and child development lens
• Collaborate with Protection and Probation Officers to co-develop Individualised Care Plans (ICPs) towards family reintegration where possible, and community inclusion
• Ensure ICPs are live working documents that drive intervention and deliver individualised interventions for residents with complex trauma, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and emotional dysregulation
• Engage families through structured sessions to support safe reintegration, where possible
• Manage cases across multiple systems concurrently — Courts, MSF, schools, PSV, IMH, FSCs, Probation, and community agencies and conduct regular reviews with all relevant partners and stakeholders
• Respond to crises — self-harm, cutting, suicidality, acute dysregulation, aggression — with calm and sound clinical judgement
• Support in attending to referrals promptly and conduct intake briefings
• Maintain accurate, timely case records and progress records of residents
• Prepare and vet reports for timely submission to MSF and the Court, and social reports for referrals to a high standard
• Assist the Head and Senior Social Worker in reviewing admissions, discharge, and disciplinary cases
• Undertake any other duties as directed by the Senior Social Worker, Head of Centre and/or Group Director, Family Services

Group Work

• Plan, design, and conduct rehabilitative and developmental groupwork programmes
• Assist in evaluating and refining based on resident outcomes

Supervisory Duties

• Provide clinical supervision to junior caseworkers and interns
• Must be supervised and open to feedback for change

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or Master of Social Work
• Minimum 3 years working with trauma-affected, at-risk youth and families
• Some experience in child protection casework, CP processes
• Demonstrates ability to manage complex, multi-agency caseloads with rigour and accountability
• Experience in crisis intervention and adolescent risk assessment
• Supervisory or mentoring experience is an advantage
• Training in a trauma therapeutic modality is an advantage
