Assistant Store Manager

Position Summary

The Assistant Store Manager helps run day-to-day store operations and leads shifts in the Store Manager's absence. This role bridges the sales floor and store leadership — supervising Sales Associates, owning key operational tasks like receiving and singles pricing, and keeping the store's multiple sales channels (in-store POS, Shopify web, eBay, TCGPlayer, TikTok Shop) running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Shift Leadership & Supervision

• Open and close the store independently, including cash drawer counts, deposits, and end-of-day POS reconciliation in Shopify.
• Supervise Sales Associates during assigned shifts: assign floor and register coverage, answer product questions, and step in on escalated customer issues.
• Help train new Sales Associates on POS use, product knowledge, and store procedures.
• Enforce store policies on customer service, game-space conduct, and cash handling.

Inventory & Pricing

• Receive and reconcile vendor shipments (Games Workshop, Southern Hobby, Asmodee, Peachstate Hobby, and others) against purchase orders.
• Set and adjust singles buy/trade-in offers based on current market pricing, keeping offers within the store's target 50–60%-of-market range.
• Monitor stock levels and flag reorder needs to the Store Manager, prioritizing the store's highest-margin categories, led by singles.
• Support cycle counts and help investigate shrink or inventory discrepancies.

Multichannel Order Fulfillment

• Process and fulfill orders across Shopify web, eBay, TikTok Shop, and TCGPlayer, keeping listings and stock counts accurate.
• Monitor TCGPlayer sales specifically, since it is not synced to Shopify, and ensure fulfilled TCGPlayer orders are reflected in on-hand inventory.
• Coordinate shipping and packaging for online orders to meet turnaround expectations.

Events & Community

• Plan and run in-store events (FNM, Warhammer leagues, D&D nights, board game demos), including scheduling, table setup, and prize support.
• Post updates and promotions to the store's Facebook page and Discord community.
• Support the Smile.io rewards program — troubleshoot point issues and promote sign-ups and redemptions.

Administrative Support

• Assist the Store Manager with weekly scheduling and payroll-hours tracking.
• Help prepare sales and inventory summaries from Shopify exports for management review.
• Maintain store cleanliness, safety, and merchandising standards.

Qualifications

Required

• 6+ months of experience as a Sales Associate II at The Game Station, or equivalent retail supervisory experience.
• Strong working knowledge of the store's product categories: TCGs, Warhammer/miniatures, D&D/RPGs, and board games.
• Comfortable using Shopify POS and basic order-management workflows.
• Reliable, able to work independently, and comfortable handling cash and closing procedures.
• Able to lift and move product (up to 30–40 lbs.) and stand/walk for extended periods.

Preferred

• Experience pricing or grading TCG singles.
• Prior experience training or supervising other staff.
• Familiarity with eBay, TCGPlayer, or other online marketplace selling.

Growth Path

Assistant Store Managers who show strong ownership of operations, vendor relationships, and staff leadership are the primary candidates for promotion into the Store Manager role.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
