Assistant Store Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Assistant Store Manager to join our retail team! In this vital leadership role, you will support the store’s daily operations, drive sales, and ensure exceptional customer service. You will assist in managing team performance, inventory control, merchandising, and operational tasks to create a welcoming and efficient shopping environment. Duties

• Assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures
• Lead and motivate the retail sales team to meet and exceed sales goals through effective coaching and training
• Manage inventory levels, conduct stock checks, and coordinate purchasing to ensure product availability and optimal merchandising
• Supervise cashiering activities, including cash handling, POS (Point of Sale) system operation, and pricing accuracy
• Implement employee orientation, onboarding, and ongoing training programs to develop team skills in customer service and sales techniques
• Conduct interviews for potential new hires, participate in recruiting efforts, and assist with employee scheduling
• Maintain excellent customer service standards by addressing customer inquiries, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring a positive shopping experience

Qualifications

• Proven experience in retail management or assistant manager roles within the retail or grocery industry
• Strong leadership skills with experience supervising teams and managing store operations
• Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases
• Proficiency in POS systems, inventory management software, bookkeeping, payroll processing, and basic math skills
• Demonstrated ability in negotiation, purchasing, pricing strategies, and sales management
• Knowledge of retail math, inventory control, merchandising, stock replenishment, and operational management practices
• Experience with cashiering procedures, cash handling protocols, and phone etiquette
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with grocery store operations or retail sales team management is preferred

Pay: From $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 38.0 per week
