Assistant Store Manager

Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, including sales, inventory control, and merchandising.
• Lead and motivate the retail sales team to meet and exceed sales targets through effective coaching, training, and performance management.
• Manage employee orientation, onboarding, and ongoing training to ensure team members are knowledgeable about products, policies, and customer service standards.
• Conduct interviews and participate in recruiting efforts to build a talented and diverse team.
• Handle payroll processing, bookkeeping tasks, and cash handling procedures accurately and efficiently.
• Supervise inventory management activities such as stock replenishment, purchasing, pricing adjustments, and inventory control to optimize product availability.
• Utilize POS (Point of Sale) systems for sales transactions, returns, and exchanges while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
• Oversee shift management by coordinating schedules, delegating tasks, and ensuring operational efficiency during all hours of operation.
• Implement merchandising strategies to enhance product presentation and maximize sales opportunities.
• Maintain effective communication with staff regarding store policies, safety procedures, and operational updates.
• Support management in budgeting efforts and operational planning to achieve store goals.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Assistant Manager or in a supervisory role within the retail industry; retail store product knowledge is highly valued.
• Strong leadership skills with demonstrated success in managing retail sales teams and supervising staff.
• Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases.
• Proficiency with POS systems, inventory management software, and basic math skills for cash handling and sales calculations.
• Experience with recruiting, employee orientation, training & development initiatives.
• Knowledge of retail math including pricing strategies, sales analysis, budgeting, and operational metrics.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively through strong organizational skills and time management.
• Familiarity with grocery store or wireless sales environments is advantageous but not required.
• Demonstrated managerial communication skills with a focus on leadership development and team building.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
