Assistant Store Manager

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and POS system management.
• Supervise and motivate retail staff to achieve sales goals while maintaining high levels of customer service.
• Manage inventory control, stock replenishment, merchandising, and pricing strategies to optimize product availability and presentation.
• Lead employee orientation, training & development initiatives, and performance evaluations to foster a skilled and engaged team.
• Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints efficiently, and ensure a positive shopping experience for all visitors.
• Coordinate purchasing activities, manage payroll records, bookkeeping tasks, and assist with budgeting efforts.
• Support shift management duties by scheduling staff, monitoring sales performance, and ensuring operational standards are met.

Requirements

• Proven experience in retail store management or assistant manager roles within the retail or grocery industry.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams effectively and communicate managerial expectations clearly.
• Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for inventory management, merchandising, and operational procedures.
• Proficiency in POS systems, cash handling, basic math skills, and retail math for accurate transactions and reporting.
• Demonstrated ability in negotiation, recruiting, interviewing, training & development, and employee orientation.
• Multilingual or bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse customer bases effectively.
• Knowledge of retail industry sales team management experience along with supervisory experience in a fast-paced environment.
