Our flagship store is the heart of the Velocity Activewear retail experience, and we’re looking for an exceptional Assistant Store Manager to help lead the team, drive performance and bring the brand to life every day.

The Role

As Assistant Store Manager, you will work closely with the Store Manager to lead our flagship store and deliver an exceptional customer experience while achieving strong commercial results.

You’ll be a hands-on leader who leads from the front — motivating and developing the team, maintaining high visual and operational standards, and creating an environment where both customers and team members feel part of the Velocity community.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

• Support the Store Manager in leading, coaching and developing a high-performing retail team.
• Lead by example and set the standard for exceptional customer service, selling and brand presentation.
• Motivate the team to achieve and exceed individual and store sales targets.
• Assist with team training, onboarding, performance management and ongoing development.
• Foster a positive, accountable and inclusive team culture.
• Step into the Store Manager’s responsibilities when required.

Customer Experience

• Deliver an exceptional and personalised customer experience at every interaction.
• Build genuine relationships with customers and develop strong product and brand knowledge.
• Support the team in delivering an elevated, service-led retail experience.
• Handle customer feedback and resolve issues professionally and effectively.
• Represent the Velocity Activewear brand with confidence, energy and authenticity.

Commercial Performance

• Work with the Store Manager to achieve sales, conversion, average transaction value and other key performance targets.
• Analyse store performance and identify opportunities to improve results.
• Use commercial insights to coach the team and drive daily performance.
• Support stock management, replenishment and inventory accuracy.
• Assist with visual merchandising and ensuring the store consistently reflects the Velocity brand.

Operations

• Support the Store Manager with the smooth day-to-day operation of the flagship store.
• Maintain high standards across store presentation, cleanliness, stockroom organisation and VM.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, cash handling and daily reporting.
• Ensure company policies, procedures and operational standards are consistently followed.
• Support stocktakes, deliveries, transfers and inventory management.
• Assist with rostering and labour management to ensure the store is appropriately resourced.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

• An experienced retail leader, Assistant Store Manager, Supervisor or high-performing Senior Sales professional.
• Passionate about delivering outstanding customer experiences.
• A confident and natural people leader who can motivate and inspire a team.
• Commercially minded, with a strong understanding of retail KPIs and sales performance.
• Energetic, positive and hands-on.
• Highly organised and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Confident communicating with customers and team members at all levels.
• Passionate about activewear, fitness, health, lifestyle and the Velocity brand.
• Someone who takes pride in store presentation and attention to detail.
• Comfortable taking ownership, making decisions and leading by example.
