Assistant Store Manager

Animal Friends Pet Care is looking for a full-time Assistant Manager to help run the daily operations of our pet care facility. We offer daycare, boarding, grooming, and retail, and we treat every pet like our own. As Assistant Manager, you are the owner's right hand and the person the team looks to when the floor gets busy. If you love animals, lead by example, and take pride in a clean, well-run operation, we want to meet you.

What you'll do

• Oversee day-to-day operations across daycare, boarding, grooming, and the retail store, keeping every area running smoothly and safely

• Lead, coach, and schedule staff, set the pace on the floor, and step in wherever you're needed

• Make sure every pet is safe, comfortable, and cared for, and that facilities stay clean and sanitary at all times

• Handle customer service and resolve concerns promptly and professionally so clients leave happy

• Manage check-ins and check-outs, bookings, and the daily schedule, and keep records accurate

• Run point-of-sale and cash handling, and keep retail stocked, priced, and well presented

• Track inventory and supplies and reorder before anything runs out

• Help recruit, interview, onboard, and train new team members

• Support the owner with scheduling, payroll prep, and day-to-day administrative tasks

• Open or close the facility and hold responsibility for it during your shifts

What we're looking for

• Supervisory or management experience, ideally in pet care, hospitality, or retail

• Genuine love for animals and comfort working around dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments

• Dependable, organized, and calm under pressure, with strong attention to detail

• Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to lead a team and handle customers

• Comfortable with computers and point-of-sale systems

• Able to work weekends and holidays as our schedule requires

• Able to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout the day

• Bilingual is a plus

Schedule and pay

• Full-time

• Pay: $16.00 - 17.00 per hour, based on experience
