Assistant Store Manager

Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Warren, NJ, is looking for a motivated, dependable, and hands-on Assistant Store Manager to help lead our team and oversee daily café operations.

We're looking for someone who takes ownership, leads by example, develops employees, and ensures an outstanding guest experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Shift Leader or Assistant Manager who is ready to grow into a larger leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Leadership

• Independently manage daily café operations, including opening and closing shifts.
• Lead the team to deliver excellent customer service, quality products, and efficient operations.
• Maintain Tropical Smoothie Cafe brand standards and operational procedures.
• Resolve customer concerns professionally.

Team Management

• Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and developing team members.
• Create and manage employee schedules to ensure adequate shift coverage.
• Coach employees, monitor performance, and promote accountability.
• Build a positive, productive, and team-oriented work environment.

Food Safety & Quality

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety.
• Ensure proper food labeling, expiration-date monitoring, FIFO rotation, and temperature logging.
• Maintain readiness for health inspections and franchise operational assessments.
• Ensure consistent product preparation and quality.

Inventory & Financial Controls

• Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and stock rotation.
• Minimize waste and support food and labor cost control.
• Oversee cash handling, register reconciliation, and closing procedures.
• Assist with sales reporting and operational performance improvements.

Sales & Guest Experience

• Deliver friendly, fast, and accurate service.
• Support promotions, catering, and local community marketing initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve customer satisfaction and increase sales.

Qualifications

Required

• Minimum 2 years of restaurant, café, or quick-service food industry experience.
• Previous supervisory, shift leader, or assistant management experience.
• Ability to independently manage shifts and lead a team.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and basic inventory management.
• Reliable transportation and availability for weekday and weekends (morning, afternoon, evening).

Preferred

• Experience with Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Starbucks, Dunkin', Panera, Chipotle, Jersey Mike's, or similar businesses.
• Experience with scheduling, inventory ordering, and labor management.
• ServSafe Manager certification or equivalent food safety certification.
