We’re looking for an enthusiastic, dependable, and motivated Assistant Store Manager to partner with our Store Manager and leadership team in creating an exceptional customer experience, developing a strong team, and keeping our store running at its best.

About the Role

As Assistant Store Manager, you’ll play an important role in the day-to-day success of Escape Outdoors. Working closely with the Store Manager, you’ll help drive sales, support and motivate the team, maintain high visual and merchandising standards, and ensure every customer receives the knowledgeable, welcoming service we’re known for.

You’ll be a hands-on leader who leads by example, takes initiative, communicates effectively, and helps turn business goals into results.

What You’ll Do

• Partner with the Store Manager and leadership team to achieve daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.
• Create a welcoming, customer-first environment by leading through example and delivering exceptional service.
• Help motivate, coach, train, and develop team members in alignment with Escape Outdoors standards.
• Identify business opportunities, communicate insights, and collaborate with leadership on solutions and improvements.
• Delegate and prioritize daily tasks to keep the team organized, productive, and focused.
• Deliver an Exceptional Customer Experience
• Help customers find the right products by sharing product knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for the outdoors.
• Support special orders, warranties, and customer concerns, working with vendors and internal team members to find effective solutions.
• Navigate vendor ordering systems and buying portals to manage special orders accurately and efficiently.
• Build positive customer relationships that encourage trust, loyalty, and repeat visits.
• Maintain Store Standards & Operations
• Keep the store clean, organized, and visually appealing while maintaining Escape Outdoors’ merchandising and presentation standards.
• Oversee and assist with daily operational tasks, including freight processing, price changes, store transfers, stockroom organization, and merchandising updates.
• Ensure tasks are completed accurately and within established timeframes.
• Follow all loss prevention procedures, security practices, and company policies.
• Communicate clearly and consistently with the Store Manager and leadership team to keep everyone informed and aligned.

• At least one year of retail management experience.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate, support, and develop a team.
• A customer-first mindset and a genuine interest in delivering outstanding service.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing demands, and take initiative in a fast-paced retail environment.
• A hands-on approach and willingness to jump in wherever needed to support the team.
• An interest in outdoor recreation, active lifestyles, and the products we carry is a plus!

• Schedule: Eight-hour shifts, including day and evening shifts as needed.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: One year of retail management experience required.
