What they need

Job Overview

The Assistant Manager helps keep the store running smoothly and makes sure customers receive the attention they expect from Suit Store Group. For more than 50 years, we've built our reputation by taking care of customers. In this role, you'll support the Store Manager, coach associates, help drive sales, and own the daily operations of your assigned shifts. You'll lead from the sales floor and step in when something needs attention.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience & Sales

  • Give every customer a warm welcome, help them find the right clothing, and make their visit a good experience.
  • Follow the 'up system' fairly and make sure customers receive prompt attention.
  • Work toward your own sales goals and help the team improve by reviewing key results.
  • Stay involved in fittings and alterations so customers receive clear updates, and their orders are ready as promised.
  • Follow the customer experience from the first conversation through pickup and follow-up. Speak up early when a service promise is at risk.
  • Show associates how to listen, offer helpful advice, and build lasting customer relationships.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Help the Store Manager hire, train, schedule, and coach the team.
  • Give associates timely, useful feedback on sales and customer service.
  • Keep the team informed about new products and help associates build their product knowledge.
  • Lead the store when assigned, including opening and closing, floor coverage, and handling issues during the shift.
  • Take responsibility for your shift. Check staffing, store appearance, customer needs, fitting progress, and unresolved issues. Keep the Store Manager informed.

Operations, Inventory & Merchandising

  • Help manage stock levels, inventory counts, and a clean, organized stockroom.
  • Keep displays neat, current, and consistent with store standards.
  • Follow store policies, safety rules, and operating procedures.
  • Support cash handling, expense tracking, and other store financial routines.
  • Keep the sales floor, fitting areas, and stockroom ready for customers and the team.
  • Help with receiving, transfers, loss prevention, POS accuracy, and required reports.
  • Watch scheduled labor hours and share any concerns about coverage or costs with the Store Manager.

Brand & Business Support

  • Help put promotions, events, and campaigns into action.
  • Share ideas from the sales floor to improve service and store operations.
  • Know our products, customers, and competitors, and represent the Suit Store Group brand well.

Qualifications

  • At least three years of retail experience, preferably in men's wear.
  • Experience helping lead, train, and motivate a retail team.
  • A strong commitment to serving customers and working well with others.
  • A record of meeting sales goals and understanding retail performance measures.
  • Good communication, organization, and follow-through.
  • Multilingual ability is a plus but not required.
  • A helpful, consultative approach to working with customers.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and support the team wherever needed.

What You’ll Love

  • Working for a business with more than 50 years of customer relationships.
  • Leading a team with room to make a meaningful difference each day.
  • Helping customers feel confident about important occasions.
  • Employee perks and team appreciation events.
  • Setting the example for service and teamwork in your store.

Benefits and Compensation

  • Benefits including health and retirement.
  • Quarterly Incentive bonus opportunities.
  • Flexible scheduling options where possible.
  • Training and development opportunities.
  • Supportive team environment in a premium retail setting.
