What they need
Assistant Manager
Position Overview
The Assistant Manager supports daily studio operations, team performance, sales, and the overall member experience. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for developing team members, maintaining Contrast standards, driving studio growth, and resolving day-to-day operational needs.
We’re looking for a proactive, dependable leader who communicates well, takes ownership, and is comfortable balancing team leadership with working directly in the studio.
Leadership & Team Support
- Lead by example and create a positive, accountable team environment
- Set clear expectations around bookings, lead follow-up, sales, and daily studio performance
- Coach and develop team members through ongoing feedback, training, and sales support
- Support new-hire training and ensure team members consistently meet Contrast standards
- Address routine performance concerns and escalate serious employee or safety issues appropriately
Studio Operations
- Work a minimum of three scheduled studio shifts per week, including opening and/or closing shifts
- Utilize flex shifts as needed to connect with and support both morning and evening teams
- Oversee daily studio standards, including cleanliness, organization, member documentation, and overall presentation
- Monitor studio performance and complete required operational reports and updates
- Identify and resolve routine equipment, facility, and member concerns
- Communicate important updates through Connecteam and maintain clear documentation
Weekend & On-Call Responsibilities
Assistant Managers participate in a rotating management on-call schedule, typically every other weekend.
During assigned on-call periods, the Assistant Manager is expected to:
- Remain reasonably available and responsive during studio operating hours for time-sensitive calls or messages
- Serve as the first point of management contact for urgent staffing and operational concerns
- Troubleshoot call-offs, late arrivals, and no-shows, including helping identify available coverage before escalating to senior management
- Support team members with urgent member concerns, equipment issues, or operational problems that cannot reasonably wait until the next business day
- Use sound judgment to resolve routine concerns independently and escalate when additional management support is needed
- Immediately escalate emergencies, safety concerns, serious employee conduct issues, significant member incidents, or major facility/equipment problems
- Document significant issues and resolutions to ensure appropriate management follow-up
Being on call does not automatically require the Assistant Manager to personally cover every open shift. The expectation is to take ownership of the situation, work toward an appropriate solution, and escalate when necessary.
Sales & Growth
- Meet or exceed individual sales goals and model strong sales practices for the team
- Coach and motivate team members to achieve studio sales goals
- Support lead follow-up, first-session conversions, promotions, and member retention
- Identify local partnership, event, and community outreach opportunities
- Support presales, grand openings, and company growth initiatives as needed
Inventory & Equipment
- Monitor inventory and proactively address replenishment needs
- Help maintain equipment and supplies to support smooth daily operations
- Submit a weekly inventory and equipment recap by the end of the final scheduled shift each week, but no later than Monday morning
Performance & Accountability
- Provide timely, professional coaching and feedback to team members
- Document performance concerns and provide objective feedback to management
- Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and consistently meet deadlines
- Hold team members accountable to company policies and studio standards
- Demonstrate sound judgment, initiative, and follow-through without requiring constant direction
What We’re Looking For
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Proactive, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership
- Strong judgment and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to coach employees and address performance concerns professionally
- Sales-focused mindset with a strong commitment to member experience
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
- Flexible and adaptable as staffing and operational needs change
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support multiple studio locations
- High school diploma or GED required
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly bend, reach, kneel, and lift or carry up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. This role includes hands-on studio responsibilities such as cleaning, stocking, event setup, and routine equipment maintenance, including working around saunas, cold plunges, wet surfaces, cleaning products, and varying temperatures.
