Assistant Superintendent

About the Role

Our client, a well-established general contractor in South Carolina, is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support field operations on commercial, industrial, and education projects. You’ll work alongside the Superintendent and project team to keep jobs safe, on schedule, and built to quality standards, with a clear path toward a Superintendent role.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent with day-to-day field operations and daily site coordination
• Coordinate and monitor subcontractors, ensuring work follows plans, specifications, and schedule
• Help maintain and update look-ahead schedules and track progress against milestones
• Enforce site safety programs, conduct safety inspections, and participate in toolbox talks
• Perform quality control inspections and help manage punch lists and closeout
• Document daily reports, site conditions, deliveries, and manpower
• Support RFIs, submittals, and change order documentation with the project management team

Qualifications

• [2-5] years of commercial construction field experience in an assistant superintendent, or field engineer role
• Working knowledge of means and methods, construction sequencing, and trade coordination
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules
• Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards (OSHA 30 preferred)
• Proficiency with scheduling and project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project, Primavera)
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage field crews and subcontractors
