Assistant Teacher - Closing Hours

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Care Assistant Teacher to join our team during evening hours. In this role, you will support the care and development of young children in a nurturing environment. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily activities, ensuring children's safety, and fostering a positive learning atmosphere. The ideal candidate will have experience working in daycare settings, hold current First Aid and CPR certifications, and be committed to creating a safe and engaging environment for children.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children during closing hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
• Assist with child supervision during transition activities, including packing up belongings and preparing for pick-up
• Support classroom routines such as snack time, bathroom breaks, and calming activities to promote a smooth end-of-day experience
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding children's daily activities, behaviors, and any concerns
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment aligned with health and safety standards
• Follow mandated reporting laws to document any incidents or concerns appropriately
• Support classroom management strategies that foster positive behavior and development

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or early childhood education settings is preferred
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and age-appropriate activities
• Certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hire), including pediatric first aid training
• Familiarity with special education needs and behavior management techniques is a plus
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members
• Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is advantageous
• Strong classroom management skills with an energetic and positive attitude
