Assistant Teacher

The Assistant Teacher supports the campus in creating and maintaining a nurturing, prepared Montessori environment where children can develop independence, confidence, concentration, and a love of learning. The Assistant Teacher helps ensure the classroom operate smoothly while fostering respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues. The Assistant Teacher should be a fluent English speaker, additional benefit if they speak Spanish.

Essential Responsibilities

Support the Montessori Classroom

• Assist in preparing, maintaining, and organizing the Montessori environment.
• Ensure materials are clean, complete, attractive, and ready for use.
• Help maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming classroom.
• Support daily classroom routines, transitions, and activities.

Support Children's Development

• Observe and supervise children while promoting independence and self-confidence.
• Guide children respectfully and consistently according to Montessori principles.
• Assist children with practical life skills, social interactions, and self-care routines.
• Encourage grace, courtesy, and positive conflict resolution.

Classroom Operations

• Help with snack, lunch, nap/rest time, outdoor play, and arrival/dismissal procedures.
• Monitor children's safety and well-being at all times.
• Assist with classroom cleaning and sanitization procedures.
• Prepare classroom materials and activities as directed by the Lead Teacher.

Communication and Teamwork

• Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and school staff.
• Maintain professional and positive relationships with families.
• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
• Communicate observations and concerns regarding children to the Lead Teacher.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
