Assistant Warehouse Manager

Job Overview

Stone Mall is seeking an experienced, results-driven Assistant Warehouse Manager to help lead our warehouse operations. In this role, you will oversee the receiving, storage, handling, and shipment of natural stone and quartz slabs, supervise and develop the warehouse team, and make sure our facility runs safely, efficiently, and accurately. You'll work closely with sales and purchasing to keep inventory moving and orders shipping on time. This is a full-time leadership position with a clear path to promotion.

Responsibilities:

• Direct day-to-day warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, slab handling, order picking, loading, and dispatch.
• Lead, schedule, and train warehouse staff, including forklift and overhead crane operators.
• Manage warehouse employee relations, including addressing concerns, resolving conflicts, and maintaining a positive, professional work environment.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and administer progressive discipline in line with company policy.
• Develop and deliver safety training for all warehouse staff, including crane, forklift, and slab handling procedures, and ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical audits, and reconciliation with the inventory system.
• Coordinate container and truck arrivals with purchasing and logistics so that inbound and outbound shipments run on time.
• Inspect incoming material for damage and quality issues.
• Manage the full claims process for damaged slabs, including documenting damage with photos and reports, filing claims with suppliers and carriers, and following through to resolution.
• Optimize warehouse layout and slab rack organization to improve space use, visibility, and picking speed.
• Lead the team in keeping the warehouse clean, organized, and safe, including assigning daily cleaning tasks and conducting regular inspections.
• Oversee maintenance of equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, and A-frames.
• Track key performance metrics such as order accuracy, turnaround time, damage rates, and labor efficiency, and report results to management.
• Partner with the sales team to manage slab holds, order priorities, and showroom inventory needs.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of warehouse or distribution experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Portuguese required.
• Experience in the stone, tile, building materials, or heavy materials industry strongly preferred.
• Solid knowledge of safe material handling practices, including forklift and overhead crane operations.
• Proficiency with inventory management or ERP systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
• Proven ability to lead teams, resolve conflicts, and hold staff accountable.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Forklift certification preferred; overhead crane experience is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time, Salaried

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch)
• Rotating Saturdays, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Growth: Opportunity for promotion to Warehouse Manager based on performance.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
