assistant/shift manager

Job Summary

As an Assistant/Shift Manager, you’ll keep restaurant operations moving smoothly while supporting a welcoming guest experience. You’ll guide team members through service, food preparation, and cooking; help maintain food safety and inventory standards; and respond to customer needs with clear, confident communication. Your impact: By coordinating the team and maintaining safe, consistent service, you help guests enjoy their meals and coworkers deliver their best work.

Duties

• Supervise shift operations across the kitchen and service areas, including food production, serving, and cash handling.
• Support staff training, team development and day-to-day team leadership.
• Monitor food handling, food safety, inventory control, and basic operational records.
• Use point-of-sale (POS) systems to process transactions and support accurate shift reporting.
• Assist with customer service and resolve routine service issues professionally.

Skills

• Relevant experience may include restaurant, food service, quick-service or fast-food, casual dining, fine dining, catering, banquet, bar, or coffee operations; kitchen, culinary, and hospitality experience are also useful.
• Demonstrated supervising, shift, assistant manager, restaurant, food service, food, kitchen, or hospitality management experience is relevant.
• Bring customer service, leadership, team management, managerial communication, staff training, training and development, and interviewing skills.
• Familiarity with POS systems, including Aloha POS or Micros POS, cash handling, basic math, food preparation, cooking, food safety management, and inventory control is valuable.
• Budgeting and profit-and-loss analysis experience is preferred; knowledge of food industry operations and managing hospitality teams is an asset.

Pay: $15.75 - $16.25 per hour

Expected hours: 18.0 – 24.0 per week
