What they need

Brodie Law Group is seeking an Associate Attorney with 0 to 3 years of experience who wants meaningful, real-world legal experience early in their career.

This position is designed for a newer attorney who wants to get into the courtroom, work directly with clients and the public, develop confidence as an advocate, and gain hands-on experience that many young attorneys do not receive until much later in practice.

We are looking for a newer attorney who wants to learn how to practice law by actually practicing it. We are looking for someone who communicates well, relates easily to people, is comfortable speaking in court, and wants to continue developing as an advocate.

Why Join Brodie Law Group

This position provides the opportunity to begin developing practical legal skills from the start. Rather than spending your first several years primarily researching or working behind the scenes, you will have opportunities to appear in court, manage matters, communicate with opposing parties and attorneys, work directly with clients, and develop judgment through real cases.

You will have responsibility, but you will also have the support of experienced attorneys and staff as you develop your skills.

For the right attorney, this role can provide a strong foundation in courtroom advocacy, client communication, case management, negotiation, and litigation while also creating opportunities to gain exposure to personal injury practice.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare for and appear at court calendars, hearings, and other proceedings.
  • Review files, evidence, court records, and other materials in preparation for hearings.
  • Communicate with parties, attorneys, witnesses, court personnel, and other individuals involved in assigned matters.
  • Negotiate and resolve matters when appropriate.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • Maintain responsibility for deadlines, court appearances, and assigned cases.
  • Develop courtroom advocacy, negotiation, and case management skills.
  • Assist Brodie Law Group attorneys with personal injury matters as needed.
  • Conduct legal research and assist with litigation strategy.
  • Participate in depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation as opportunities arise.
  • Communicate directly with clients and help them understand the legal process.
  • Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and other members of the Brodie Law Group team.

Responsibilities may expand as the attorney gains experience and demonstrates the ability to handle additional matters independently.

What We're Looking For

  • A J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Georgia
  • 0 to 3 years of legal experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence speaking with clients, attorneys, judges, court personnel, and members of the public.
  • Ability to relate to people from different backgrounds and communicate in a professional, respectful, and understandable way.
  • Willingness to appear in court and develop courtroom skills.
  • Comfort speaking in front of others and making decisions in real time.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to deadlines.
  • Ability to prepare thoroughly and take ownership of assigned matters.
  • Good judgment and willingness to ask questions and learn.
  • Strong work ethic and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Interest in litigation, courtroom advocacy, personal injury, or trial practice.

Prior courtroom experience is helpful but not required. We are more interested in finding someone with strong communication skills, good judgment, initiative, and a genuine desire to develop as an attorney.

What This Position Offers a New Attorney

This position is particularly well suited for an attorney who wants to build practical experience quickly. You will have opportunities to develop skills in:

  • Courtroom advocacy
  • Hearing preparation
  • Oral argument
  • Negotiation
  • Client communication
  • Case management
  • Legal writing
  • Litigation strategy
  • Working with witnesses and evidence
  • Personal injury litigation

You will not be expected to know everything when you arrive. You will be expected to prepare, communicate, take responsibility for your work, ask questions when necessary, and continue improving.

The goal is to give the right associate meaningful responsibility while providing the guidance and support necessary to develop into a confident and capable attorney.

As your skills and experience develop, you may have opportunities to take on greater responsibility in personal injury matters, including discovery, depositions, mediations, motion practice, case strategy, and trial preparation.

For an associate interested in litigation, this position can provide a pathway to increased responsibility within Brodie Law Group’s personal injury practice.

Benefits

Brodie Law Group offers a professional environment with opportunities for growth and hands-on experience.

Benefits include:

  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Paid time off
  • Paid holidays
  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Retirement with company match
  • CLE reimbursement
  • Georgia Bar dues reimbursement
  • Mentorship from experienced attorneys
  • Meaningful courtroom experience early in your career
  • Opportunities to gain exposure to a wide range of civil litigation matters
  • Long-term growth opportunities within the firm

The Right Fit

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with people and wants to become comfortable practicing law outside of an office. You should be comfortable speaking in front of others, making decisions in real time, communicating with people who may be frustrated or unfamiliar with the legal system, solving problems, and taking responsibility for the matters assigned to you.

We value legal ability, but we also place a high value on communication, professionalism, judgment, preparation, and the ability to connect with people.

If you are a newer attorney looking for an opportunity to gain meaningful courtroom and litigation experience early in your career, we would like to hear from you.

How to Apply

Please follow the link below, complete any required application questions, and submit your resume.

A cover letter is not required, but applicants are welcome to provide additional information about internships, clerkships, moot court, trial advocacy, prior courtroom experience, or other experiences that demonstrate an interest in litigation and working directly with people.
