Associate – First-Party Insurance Litigation

Texas | Remote Flexibility | $165,000+ Base Salary

Our recruitment agency is partnering with a well-established national litigation firm to identify a Associate with strong first-party insurance litigation experience to join its growing Texas practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance litigator seeking meaningful responsibility, sophisticated matters, strong mentorship, and a clear path for professional growth. The position is based within the firm's Texas practice, with the flexibility to work remotely as needed.

The Opportunity

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience handling first-party insurance disputes and the confidence to take ownership of a litigation docket from inception through resolution. The successful attorney will work closely with experienced litigators and sophisticated representatives of national insurance carriers while having substantial autonomy over their matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage an active first-party insurance litigation docket from inception through resolution.
• Take primary responsibility for assigned matters while receiving strategic guidance and support from experienced attorneys when needed.
• Defend first-party bad faith and insurance coverage litigation involving:
• Commercial property and business income claims
• Residential property claims
• Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist (UM/UIM) coverage
• Stowers claims, excess judgments, and other coverage disputes
• Develop and execute litigation strategies in collaboration with sophisticated insurance carrier clients.
• Draft pleadings, motions, written discovery, and client reporting.
• Handle depositions, hearings, settlement negotiations, and other phases of litigation through final resolution.
• Maintain strong client relationships through excellent communication, responsiveness, and results.
• Effectively manage competing deadlines, priorities, and a substantial caseload.

Qualifications

• Active license to practice law in Texas .
• 5+ years of first-party insurance litigation experience , preferably involving property coverage disputes.
• Strong legal research, writing, advocacy, and litigation strategy skills.
• Demonstrated experience independently managing insurance litigation matters.
• Experience handling pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, hearings, and settlement negotiations.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• A proactive, collaborative approach with the ability to take ownership of assigned matters.
• Excellent communication and client-service skills.
