What they need

Associate Attorney – Litigation (Criminal Defense / Family / Civil) – Remote-Flexible

Easton Cohen, PLLC — Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Pay: $80,000–$90,000 per year, plus quarterly bonus

About the Firm

Easton Cohen, PLLC is an Oklahoma City litigation firm representing clients in criminal defense, family law, civil litigation, post-conviction matters, and appellate proceedings in state and federal court. Our practice is built on thorough preparation, strategic advocacy, strong client relationships, and a commitment to giving every client thoughtful, effective representation. The firm is growing, and we are adding an experienced litigator to lead our active trial-court docket.

The Role

This is a courtroom position for an attorney ready to own a docket. You will take over an active docket of approximately 30 criminal, family, and civil matters, transitioned from the founding attorney through a structured file-by-file handoff over your first several weeks. From there, you’ll run your cases from first appearance through resolution, with direct access to the founding attorney for strategy on complex matters. You’ll be supported by a legal assistant.

This is not a research or support role. You will advise clients, negotiate with prosecutors and opposing counsel, argue motions, conduct hearings, and try cases.

Responsibilities

  • Manage your own caseload of criminal defense, family law, and civil litigation matters with independence and accountability
  • Appear in court for hearings, motions, conferences, and trials
  • Negotiate with prosecutors, opposing counsel, and other parties
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for your clients regarding case status, strategy, and next steps
  • Prepare motions, pleadings, briefs, discovery, and other filings
  • Review and analyze discovery, evidence, and case records
  • Prepare matters for hearings and trial
  • Maintain deadlines, case files, and accurate case information
  • Accept new matters as your docket allows and help grow the firm's litigation practice
  • Travel for court appearances throughout Oklahoma as reasonably necessary

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice law in Oklahoma and in good standing
  • At least two years of litigation experience
  • Experience independently handling hearings and court appearances
  • Experience in criminal defense, family law, or civil litigation (prosecutors and public defenders are strongly encouraged to apply)
  • Strong oral and written advocacy skills
  • Sound judgment and the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
  • Self-directed, dependable, and responsive to clients

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trial experience
  • Experience in Oklahoma County and surrounding district courts
  • Admission to the U.S. District Courts for the Western and/or Northern Districts of Oklahoma, or willingness to obtain admission

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $80,000–$90,000, commensurate with experience, plus a quarterly bonus tied to collections on your matters. Total first-year earning potential exceeds $95,000.
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Professional liability insurance
  • Employer-paid Oklahoma Bar Association dues
  • Employer-paid approved continuing legal education
  • Opportunity for growth and leadership as the firm continues to expand

Location

Remote-flexible. You may work from home or from our Oklahoma City office, provided you live in Oklahoma (OKC metro preferred) and can appear in person at hearings in district courts across the state. We ask that you be reachable during business hours, timely respond to clients, and meet all court and filing deadlines.
