ABOUT THE FIRM

Jeffrey Orr and Associates Law is a Palm Springs boutique serving the Coachella Valley across estate planning, probate, trust administration, fiduciary services, business, real estate, civil litigation and family law. Our model is simple: one firm for every legal chapter of a client’s life, with attorneys whose specialties complement each other.

We work from a modern office on Tahquitz Canyon Way with experienced paralegals, Clio practice management and online client intake, so attorneys spend their time practicing law. We have longstanding ties to the LGBTQ+ community and to the second home owners who make the desert home.

THE ROLE

We are hiring a litigator to lead our family law, civil, business and real estate litigation practice. You will own a caseload from intake through resolution, appear regularly in Riverside County Superior Court, including the Indio and Palm Springs courthouses, and serve as the firm’s go to courtroom attorney. You will report to Jeffrey Orr and work alongside our associate attorneys and paralegal team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

● Handle dissolution, legal separation and domestic partnership matters, including custody, visitation, child and spousal support, and property division

● Draft and negotiate prenuptial, postnuptial and marital settlement agreements

● Handle adoption and guardianship matters, often alongside our estate planning team

● Litigate business disputes, including partnership and shareholder disputes, breach of contract, and disputes arising from business purchases and sales

● Litigate real estate disputes, including quiet title, partition, easement and boundary matters, and purchase and sale disputes

● Handle general civil litigation from pleadings through discovery, motion practice, mediation and trial

● Represent landlords in unlawful detainer actions, lease disputes and related collections

● Coordinate with our trust, probate and transactional attorneys where matters overlap

● Manage client relationships directly, with clear and timely communication

● Supervise and delegate to paralegals to keep files moving efficiently

WHAT YOU BRING

● Active California State Bar license in good standing

● At least two years of California litigation experience, with family law experience (required) and civil, business or real estate litigation experience (strongly preferred)

● Independent court appearance experience, including hearings on Requests for Order and evidentiary hearings; trial or arbitration experience is a plus

● Working knowledge of support calculation software (DissoMaster or Xspouse)

● Strong writing and a calm, direct style with clients in difficult moments

● Experience in Riverside County courts or a willingness to learn them quickly

● Unlawful detainer experience and Spanish fluency are a plus

WHAT WE OFFER

● Base pay plus incentive pay, for expected total pay of $120,000 to $160,000 per year depending on billed hours, plus profit sharing

● $120 for every collected hour, plus 30% of collected fixed fees, paid quarterly
