Associate Chemist

Purpose & Scope:

Works in the analytical testing lab to perform accurate testing as defined in analytical test methods and SOPs.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct analytical testing for products and projects by wet chemistry or using typical analytical testing equipment such as UV/Vis or titrations.

• Perform accurate weighing, prepares samples and standards, and other solutions as defined in test methods and SOPs.

• Conduct equipment cleaning, maintenance and calibration verification as directed.

• Provide clear and complete documentation of work performed as directed by company procedures, performs basic statistics.

• Accurately reports testing results according to company policy.

• Assist in laboratory investigations or other studies as needed.

• Provide general laboratory support to maintain the laboratory in compliance with cGMP regulations, including cleaning glassware.

• Function with supervision with activities assigned and mentored by a supervisor.

Quantitative Dimensions:

• Work with local teams directly impacting products at APT’s commercial facility.

Organizational Context:

• Reports to Manager of Quality Control

• No direct reports

Qualifications:

Required

• BS in Chemistry or related discipline.

• Attention to detail.

• Ability to manage time.

• Experience with typical equipment used in analytical testing such as volumetric glassware, UV/Vis, and chromatography.

• Must be able to perform mathematical functions typically used in the analysis of pharmaceutical products, including simple statistics and percentages.

• Proficient computer skills including standard office software and analytical data systems.

• Must be able to read, write and understand the English language (statement common to all job descriptions).
