Associate Data Engineer

Open Technology Solutions (OTS) is seeking an Associate Data Engineer. This is an early-career role for someone with a year or two of hands-on SQL and data work who wants to grow into a full data engineer. You'll join a five-person data engineering team where you'll build SQL ingestion processes, create dbt models, document how things work, and learn the architecture behind a modern Snowflake data stack. Responsibilities

• Build, support, and optimize data pipelines using tools like Fivetran, dbt, and Python to move data between Snowflake, SaaS APIs, on-prem databases (Oracle, SQL Server), and other data stores.
• Write and run SQL for data ingestion and transformation and build dbt models that turn raw data into analytics-ready structures.
• Support the design and implementation of data structures in Snowflake.
• Help automate monitoring and alerting on data quality, pipeline health, and overall data infrastructure.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for data products, processes, and lineage.
• Research and recommend new tools and methods to improve how data is ingested, stored, and transformed.
• Participate in scheduled weekend and after-hours maintenance windows and downtime testing as needed.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, business intelligence, data analytics, or software development
• Real, hands-on SQL coding experience. You've written and run queries in production, not just read about them
• Exposure to Python and databases such as Snowflake, Oracle, or SQL Server
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools like dbt, Fivetran, or Matillion is a plus
• Experience with BI platforms (Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, or similar) is a plus
• Resourceful problem solver. You try to find the answer yourself first, and you know when to use your team
• Clear communicator who's comfortable talking through your work and asking questions
• Team-minded. You coordinate your work so teammates aren't left scrambling to review it at 9 p.m.
• You see documentation as part of the job, not an afterthought
• Flexible and willing to pitch in on occasional weekend or after-hours work

Compensation and Details

• Compensation: $100,000–$120,000 base + 10% annual incentive target
• Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision; 401(k) with fully vested match; PTO and holiday pay; FSA; life, short-term, and long-term disability; student loan paydown program; tuition reimbursement
• Location: Englewood, CO. Hybrid, typically Tuesday–Thursday in office (Wednesdays required)
• Schedule: Full-time, exempt, with occasional weekend and after-hours work for scheduled maintenance
