What they need
Associate Designer / Product Developer
Yoon Chung Design Inc. | Los Angeles | Hybrid
Yoon Chung Design Inc. is a full-package apparel design and development studio helping emerging brands turn creative ideas into finished collections. We’re looking for a bright, creative, and driven Associate Designer / Product Developer who wants to take ownership of their work and grow with our company.
You’ll work closely with our founder and team on up-and-coming brands, including Gen Z startups, gaining firsthand experience in both apparel development and the business behind it.
The role
You’ll own the day-to-day development of assigned styles—from initial CADs and tech packs through sampling, approvals, and production. This requires creativity, technical accuracy, strong organization, and consistent follow-through.
What you’ll do
- Create detailed initial tech packs, including bills of materials (BOMs), construction details, and specifications.
- Create and update technical flats, colorways, and presentation CADs. CAD work is a substantial part of this role.
- Manage your own work-in-progress (WIP), keeping deadlines, samples, outstanding approvals, and next steps current across multiple projects.
- Communicate regularly with factories, fabric mills, trim suppliers, and our internal team.
- Follow up consistently on fabric, trim, color, fit, sample, and production approvals to keep styles moving.
- Update tech packs and development records as decisions are made.
- Identify potential issues early, assess options, and propose practical solutions.
- Support fittings and translate feedback into clear development updates.
What you bring
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in apparel design and product development.
- Strong Adobe Illustrator skills, with experience creating accurate CADs, technical flats, and detailed tech packs.
- Working knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, trims, and the sampling process.
- A strong creative eye paired with an organized, detail-oriented, and analytical approach.
- The ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through without constant reminders.
- Resourceful problem-solving skills and good judgment about when to make a recommendation or bring an issue to the team.
- The ability to juggle multiple projects, prioritize competing deadlines, and keep track of the details.
- A collaborative attitude, clear communication, and openness to feedback.
- Curiosity and a strong desire to learn the clothing business—from design and costing to development and production.
- Availability to work on-site in Los Angeles and remotely as part of a hybrid schedule.
The opportunity
At YCD, you’ll see how your work contributes to a collection from beginning to end. You’ll learn directly from a founder with more than 30 years of apparel industry experience and gain exposure to different brands, product categories, and business decisions.
As your skills and the studio grow, there is an opportunity to take on more complex projects and greater responsibility. We’re looking for someone excited to contribute, keep learning, and build a future with our team.
To apply
Please submit your résumé and portfolio, including CADs and a sample tech pack with a detailed BOM. Remove any confidential information. Include a brief note about a project you helped develop, what you personally owned, and why you’re interested in joining YCD.
