What they need
About IBA
Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) partners and invests with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who want to own their future. IBA goes further than providing money. It invests in people, places and ideas that are ready, and helps make them real. Its services help Indigenous Australians create wealth, take up investment opportunities, build businesses and buy homes. IBA does this with a commercial mindset and through respectful, productive partnerships across communities, government and the private sector.
IBA is entering a growth phase under a new board strategy and a refined ICT structure. This role now focuses solely on IT operations, giving you the chance to shape how IBA's technology services support its people and, through them, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia.
For a detailed position description please contact Bryan Creith - [email protected]
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Information and Technology Officer (CITO), the Associate Director, IT Operations is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for IBA's IT service delivery and operations. With procurement and property now sitting elsewhere, the role is dedicated to IT operations: making sure IBA staff are well supported and that technology services are reliable, secure and cost-effective.
You'll oversee IBA's managed service provider arrangements, including the service desk and cloud engineering, and lead a small but capable team. You'll manage IT budgets, invoices and contract renewals for key vendors, keep staff informed about IT changes, and may act as CITO when they are away.
Key Duties
- Oversee ICT managed service providers, including service desk, incident, change and asset management, to ensure reliable service and strong contractual outcomes
- Lead the planning, implementation and maintenance of cloud, network and end-user computing systems, including oversight of cloud engineering
- Manage key ICT contracts, including sourcing, negotiation, renewals and supplier performance
- Manage IT budgets, forecasts, invoices and performance metrics across IT operations
- Communicate IT changes clearly to staff and stakeholders across IBA
- Provide direction across IT Operations, advise executive leadership and act as CITO when required
- Proactively manage operational risk and compliance with relevant standards and regulations
- Build and mentor a high-performing team focused on engagement, innovation and accountability
- Work in culturally informed and respectful ways with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander customers, colleagues and stakeholders
Capabilities
You don't need to tick every box. IBA is most interested in people who bring the core capabilities below and are motivated by its purpose.
- Demonstrated cultural capability and experience working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities or organisations
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience across IT operations and service delivery
- Experience managing service desk and service delivery teams through a managed service provider arrangement (ServiceNow experience desirable)
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud, network and end-user computing, including Microsoft products and platforms
- Proven experience managing budgets, procurement and large, complex vendor contracts with a focus on value, transparency and cost control
- Experience in government applying the PGPA Act and Commonwealth Procurement Rules to major technology purchases and contracts
- Strong risk management, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make timely, informed decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including explaining IT changes to executives, staff and vendors
- A bachelor's or master's degree in IT, business administration or a related field; ITIL, Prosci or PMP certification is highly desirable
- Willingness to undertake regional and remote travel, including overnight stays as required
