About Thintronics®
More Data. Faster.
Thintronics is solving one of the defining challenges in modern computing: moving massive amounts of data and power between chips at unprecedented speeds and densities. As Moore's Law slows, performance is increasingly defined by advanced packaging, chiplets, and high-density substrates. Our materials technology enables new levels of interconnect density, signal integrity, and power delivery inside next-generation semiconductor packages. We partner directly with leading IDMs, foundries, substrate manufacturers, and OSATs building the most advanced AI and HPC platforms in the world.
Thintronics is a start-up company located in Alameda, CA. We are a team of chemists, materials scientists, and engineers shaping the future of data and devices. We offer an exciting start-up environment at the interface of R&D, machine learning-aided product design, manufacturing, and rapid market implementation.
Job Role – Who We Want
- Thintronics is looking for a hands-on, technically minded Associate Engineer/Senior Associate Engineer to join our Manufacturing team. This role combines day-to-day manufacturing with engineering problem solving, process improvement, equipment troubleshooting, and development of the systems and documentation needed to support reliable manufacturing.
- We are looking for someone who is comfortable working hands-on in a chemical manufacturing environment and takes a thoughtful, data-driven approach to how work gets done. The right person will not simply follow established processes - they will ask questions, identify problems and inefficiencies, challenge the status quo when appropriate, and bring forward practical ideas for making our manufacturing processes safer, more reliable, and more efficient.
- As part of a growing start-up, this person should be comfortable taking ownership of new problems, learning unfamiliar equipment and processes, and working across Manufacturing, R&D, and other technical teams.
Core Responsibilities
- Execute and support day-to-day manufacturing activities, including the safe handling, transfer, mixing, and processing of chemicals at production-relevant volumes.
- Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes, SOPs, work instructions, batch records, and other production documentation to ensure safe, repeatable, and reliable operations.
- Analyze manufacturing and process data to identify trends and variation, troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Identify and drive practical improvements to manufacturing processes that improve safety, quality, throughput, repeatability, and efficiency.
- Support the installation, commissioning, maintenance, modification, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Work cross-functionally with R&D and other technical teams to transfer and scale processes into manufacturing and resolve manufacturing challenges.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering or technical discipline.
- Hands-on experience in a laboratory, pilot-scale, manufacturing, or other technical production environment, with the ability to safely handle and process chemicals.
- Experience developing or maintaining technical documentation such as SOPs, work instructions, batch records, or manufacturing records.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze technical data, identify trends, troubleshoot problems, and perform structured root-cause analysis.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, with an interest in understanding and improving manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to question existing approaches, raise concerns, and propose practical improvements.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work on your feet for extended periods, including spending the majority of a workday standing or moving within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform hands-on manufacturing activities that may require bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and working around production equipment.
Level (Associate Engineer through Senior Associate Engineer) will depend on overall qualifications, years of experience, and technical assessment during interview process.
Compensation/Benefits
- Competitive Bay Area salary
- 100% employee coverage for Health/Vision/Dental Insurance
- Unlimited PTO policy + Company Holidays
- Equity/Stock Options
- The base salary range for this position is $73,000–$95,000 per year. Actual compensation will depend on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
