Associate Graphic Designer

Introduction:

PetersenWest is looking for a talented and motivated Associate Designer to join our creative team. This is an entry-level position designed for a designer who has a strong visual foundation, a great eye for detail, and is excited to grow their skills while working on real-world branding and design projects.

You'll work alongside our creative team on projects for companies ranging from emerging brands to established national organizations. The right person is curious, dependable, highly creative, and comfortable taking direction while also bringing ideas of their own to the table.

What you'll do:

• Assist in the development and execution of brand identities, campaigns, presentations, digital experiences, and marketing materials
• Design across a variety of mediums including print, digital, web, social, presentations, and environmental graphics
• Work within established brand systems while maintaining a high level of visual consistency
• Explore concepts, layouts, typography, imagery, and visual directions for client projects
• Prepare production-ready artwork and files for print and digital applications
• Make design revisions based on creative direction and client feedback
• Collaborate with designers, creative directors, developers, writers, and other members of the PetersenWest team
• Help organize project files, assets, templates, and brand libraries
• Participate in creative reviews, brainstorming sessions, and internal critiques
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced agency environment

What we're looking for:

We're less concerned about years of experience and more interested in your portfolio, design instincts, and willingness to learn.

A strong candidate will have:

• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field — or equivalent portfolio and experience
• Strong understanding of typography, layout, hierarchy, color, and composition
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
• Working knowledge of PowerPoint and presentation design
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established brand standards
• Ability to receive feedback, iterate quickly, and continually improve the work
• Good communication, organization, and time-management skills
• Curiosity about branding, business, marketing, and how design helps companies grow

Bonus Skills:

Not required, but we'd love to see experience or interest in:

• Social Media
• Web and UI/UX design
• Video editing
• Photography
• AI-assisted creative tools
• Packaging or environmental design

What you'll learn:

This isn't intended to be a production-only design position. We want someone who wants to become a great designer.

You'll have the opportunity to learn how brands are built, how creative concepts are developed, how work is presented to clients, and how design connects to broader business and marketing objectives.

You'll work directly with experienced designers and creative leadership, receive regular feedback on your work, and gradually take on greater creative responsibility as your skills develop.
