Help turn complex infrastructure data into insights that inform decisions on NSW's major

infrastructure portfolio!

I nfrastructure NSW is looking for an analytical and curious professional to join our Investor Assurance team as Associate, Infrastructure Portfolio Performance. This is an opportunity to work across the State's infrastructure portfolio, analysing project and portfolio information to identify emerging trends, risks and performance issues.

You will translate complex information and data into clear insights, reporting and visualisations that support decision-making by senior executives, cross-government committees and Cabinet. You will also work with Infrastructure NSW's assurance teams and NSW Government agencies to improve the quality and usefulness of portfolio information.

About the Role

As Associate, Infrastructure Portfolio Performance, you will work across multiple sources of project and portfolio information to understand what the data is telling us, test its quality and identify issues that warrant further attention.

You will bring together quantitative and qualitative information, identify patterns and inconsistencies, and help translate detailed project information into a portfolio-level view of performance.

Your work will contribute to Infrastructure NSW's oversight of the State's significant infrastructure projects and provide Government with timely, evidence-based information to support decision-making.

What you'll do

In this role, you will:

  • Analyse infrastructure project and portfolio data to identify trends, emerging risks, anomalies and areas requiring further investigation.
  • Bring together information from multiple sources, testing its completeness, consistency and quality and turning it into meaningful portfolio-level insights.
  • Develop clear and engaging data visualisations that make complex portfolio information easier to understand and support effective decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve portfolio monitoring and reporting, including the quality, efficiency and usefulness of the information being produced.
  • Provide secretariat and governance support for committees, working groups and executive forums, ensuring the effective coordination of meetings.

About You

You're an analytical thinker who is naturally curious about what sits behind the numbers.

You are comfortable working with complex information and data, identifying inconsistencies and patterns, and asking questions when something doesn't look right. You can move between detail and the bigger picture, drawing out what information means and why it matters.

Just as importantly, you can communicate insights clearly. You can turn analysis into concise written advice, executive-level reporting and effective visual presentations.

You'll be comfortable managing competing priorities and working collaboratively with stakeholders to obtain and interrogate information, while maintaining a strong focus on accuracy, quality and attention to detail.

Experience with Salesforce or a similar platform would be highly regarded.

Why this role?

This role provides an opportunity to develop a whole-of-government perspective on NSW's infrastructure portfolio and understand how evidence, assurance and portfolio analysis contribute to major government decisions.

You will work across infrastructure projects and asset classes, alongside Infrastructure NSW's assurance professionals, and gain exposure to issues affecting the planning, development and delivery of major infrastructure.

For someone interested in developing a career in infrastructure, portfolio analysis, assurance, investment or government decision-making, the role offers a strong combination of analytical work, stakeholder engagement and exposure to senior decision-making.

Why Join INSW?

Infrastructure NSW is a NSW Government agency providing independent, evidence-based advice to Government in relation to infrastructure priorities and projects. Its functions and structure are set out in the Infrastructure NSW Act.

Our core functions include providing independent and strategic advice to ensure infrastructure investment decisions are underpinned by robust assessment and long-term planning; monitoring NSW’s infrastructure program through independent reviews and expert analysis

and managing the procurement and delivery of nominated priority projects.

Within Infrastructure NSW, Investor Assurance provides advice to Government on significant infrastructure projects and the State's asset management program. It administers the Infrastructure Investor Assurance Framework for relevant capital projects and plays a role in identifying and managing risks and impacts across the infrastructure portfolio.

We are committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, providing employees challenging and rewarding work, opportunities for career progression, and learning and development. We offer our employees discounted gym membership, study assistance, salary packaging, and are conveniently located near Wynyard station in Sydney's newest waterfront precinct at Barangaroo.

How to Apply

Rather than simply telling us that you meet the requirements, we'd like to understand how you approach analysis and turn information into insight.

In your cover letter, please address the following:

  1. Describe an example where you analysed information or data from multiple sources to identify an issue, trend or insight. What did you identify, and how did your analysis contribute to an outcome or decision?
  2. What attracts you to infrastructure portfolio performance, and what skills and experience would you bring to this role?
