The Opportunity:

Whittier Street Health Center is seeking a full-time Associate Medical Director to join our team. In this role, you will partner with the Medical Director to provide direct patient care (approximately 65% clinical) while leading clinical operations, quality improvement, and medical staff development across our primary care clinics (approximately 35% administrative), supporting our mission to advance health equity and provide high-quality, patient-centered care to Boston's diverse communities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care approximately 65% of scheduled time, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and care coordination
• Partner with the Medical Director to direct medical affairs for primary care clinics, including acting on the Medical Director's behalf during absences
• Establish and implement clinical standards of care, policies, and disease management protocols across primary care services
• Oversee medical staff performance, including orientation, evaluation, and regular meetings with all medical staff members
• Collaborate with the COO on medical staff utilization, productivity, and provider scheduling to support patient access
• Support compliance with Joint Commission accreditation, Accountable Care Organization requirements, and the Quality Assurance Plan
• Partner with Human Resources on medical staff credentialing, ensuring records are complete, accurate, and current
• Serve as clinical expert for risk management and review of potential medical liability matters

Qualifications:

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school, with completed residency
• Minimum of seven years of experience as a practicing clinician, including extensive medical administration/leadership experience, preferably at a community health center or large group practice
• Current, active Massachusetts medical license; board certification or board eligibility in the appropriate specialty; current DEA registration, Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration (MCSR), and BLS certification (in-person, hands-on)
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and interdisciplinary teams
