Position Summary

The Associate Pastor serves as a key member of the pastoral leadership team by assisting the Senior Pastor in carrying out the vision, mission, and daily ministry of the church. This position provides pastoral leadership, ministry development, leadership training, member care, and administrative support to advance the mission of the church and ensure ministry excellence.

The Associate Pastor serves as an extension of the Senior Pastor, providing leadership, oversight, and support as assigned while helping equip ministry leaders and strengthen the overall effectiveness of the church.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Pastoral Leadership

• Assist the Senior Pastor in implementing the vision and strategic direction of the church.
• Provide pastoral leadership and support to ministry leaders.
• Assist with pastoral care, counseling, visitation, and member support.
• Promote excellence, unity, and spiritual growth across all ministries.

Teaching & Leadership Development

• Teach Bible studies, leadership classes, and discipleship courses as assigned.
• Develop biblically sound teaching materials and ministry resources.
• Support leadership development and volunteer training.
• Assist in discipleship initiatives throughout the church.

Ministry Oversight

• Provide oversight and coaching to assigned ministry areas.
• Meet regularly with ministry leaders to provide guidance and accountability.
• Evaluate ministry effectiveness and recommend improvements.
• Assist in volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and leadership development.

Administrative Leadership

• Assist the Senior Pastor with planning and executing church initiatives.
• Coordinate ministry calendars, projects, and special events.
• Prepare reports, correspondence, presentations, and ministry communications.
• Assist with ministry budgets, planning, and operational needs.
• Attend leadership meetings and ensure timely follow-up on assigned action items.

Church Operations & Community Engagement

• Support the effective daily operation of the church.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure ministries operate with excellence.
• Assist in resolving ministry and operational challenges.
• Foster relationships with community partners and local ministry organizations.
• Support outreach initiatives that advance the church's mission.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Master of Divinity, Master's in Ministry, or related theological degree preferred.

Experience

• Five years of pastoral or ministry leadership experience preferred.
• Experience leading ministry teams and developing leaders.
• Experience teaching biblical and leadership principles.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong biblical knowledge and theological understanding.
• Excellent teaching and leadership abilities.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to coach, mentor, and develop leaders.
• Sound judgment, discretion, and conflict resolution skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Planning Center, Canva, and church management software.

Hours:

• Sunday: 7:00am - 1:00pm
• Tuesday: 10:30am - 8:30pm
• Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:30am - 5:30pm
