What they need

Associate Poker Analyst

Location: Toronto, ON (onsite)

Salary: $55,000 - $70,000

Bonus: Maximum 50% per annum

Vacancies: 1 vacancy

You know poker. We'll teach you the data.

GGPoker is the world's largest online poker site, and the Business Intelligence team is where the numbers behind it get turned into decisions. We are hiring an Associate Poker Analyst who knows the game at a serious level and is curious enough to ask why the numbers move. If you have played poker seriously and have an analytical mind, we will help you build the SQL and Tableau skills on the job.

Poker knowledge is the one thing we cannot teach quickly, so it is required. In your application, show us. Tell us what you play (cash, tournaments, formats, stakes), how long you have played, and one thing about how players behave that most people miss. Applications without this will not move forward.

What we're looking for

  • Deep poker knowledge: how cash games and tournaments are structured, how online poker rooms run, and how serious players think.
  • A curious, analytical mind. You ask why, not only what, and you can't leave something odd in a dataset alone.
  • Common sense about business. You can explain what a number means for the company in a couple of plain sentences, in writing and out loud.
  • Strong, efficient communication. You write and speak to your audience. A message is catered to your audience so that a topic can be understood by a non-technical person with ease.
  • Comfort with data. Any experience counts: SQL, Excel or Google Sheets, Tableau or another BI tool, or your own projects such as tracking your poker results. Experience in a data role is welcome but not required.
  • You learn fast, figure things out before escalating, and check your own work before it goes out.

What you'll do

  • Monitor business and game performance across the GGPoker network, including traffic, tournaments, cash games and promotions, and flag shifts early.
  • Build and maintain Tableau dashboards and recurring reports that non-technical stakeholders understand at a glance.
  • Analyze product, tournament and promotion performance to understand what is working, what isn't and why.
  • Write SQL against our Snowflake data warehouse to pull and prepare data for reporting.
  • Support tracking of core metrics including LTV, churn, retention and regional performance.
  • Track performance against forecasts and flag deviations to the team.
  • Turn findings into short, clear summaries for managers and leadership.
  • Help evaluate A/B tests on product and promotional changes.

Bonus points

  • Experience in iGaming, fintech, trading or another high-volume data environment.
  • Exposure to Snowflake or another cloud data warehouse.
  • Experience with A/B testing, forecasting or KPI frameworks.
  • Startup or high-growth experience.

What you'll get

  • Mentorship via weekly 1:1s, and a 30/60/90-day plan covering hands-on training in SQL, Tableau and Snowflake.
  • A path to move up inside the team as your skills grow, with an annual salary and promotion review.
  • Up to 50% bonus per annum
  • Paid vacation and sick days
  • Flexible and comprehensive benefits
  • Commute coverage
  • Preferred gym rate
  • Birthday gift
  • GGPoker swag
  • Endless snacks and beverages.
