Associate Quantity Surveyor

About the role

The Associate Quantity Surveyor manages all costs relating to construction and design projects, from initial estimates to final accounts. This role is responsible for minimizing project costs, enhancing value for money, and ensuring projects are completed within budget while meeting required quality standards and specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary cost estimates and cost plans for development projects
• Advise on design development cost estimates, using historical data and market analysis
• Advise on procurement strategy, tendering, and contractual procedures
• Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ) or Specification documents for tendering purposes
• Organize the tendering process, including issuing tender documents and managing queries
• Obtain competitive quotations for direct purchase items and conduct value engineering and negotiation of best prices
• Evaluate tenders received and prepare tender reports, including comparisons between bidders and against benchmarks
• Prepare and execute formal contracts
• Perform interim valuations of work in progress for payment purposes
• Prepare regular financial statements and cost reports during construction

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field
• Professional Certificate/Membership (e.g., RICS, AIQS, or local equivalent) is highly desirable
• 8-10 years relevant experience as a consultant or contractor preferred
• Good command of spoken and written English
• Good management and reporting skills
• Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills
• Strong analytical and communication skills for all levels of people
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Proficient in data collection, analysis and presentation
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Google Sheets and Docs, and the Internet
