Job Title: Associate Scientist

Location: Aliso Viejo, CA (On-site)

The hourly rate for this position is expected to be between $26.59 – 33.22 per hour, depending on geographic location, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Employment Type: Temporary, 6-month assignment

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Schedule: Monday – Friday, on-site

Job Summary:

• Support Research & Development in developing a drug delivery device for ophthalmic disease
• Operate HPLC, FTIR, and Ussing Chamber (diffusion cell) instruments
• Perform ELISA assays
• Perform laboratory dissection of the eye
• Develop and formulate chemical recipes and formulations
• Follow and document GLP procedures and reports
• Manage multiple projects across different disciplines

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, and/or PhD in Chemistry or a related scientific field
• 3+ years of experience in one or more of these: drug delivery device development, sustained release chemistry, analytical chemistry, or preclinical/clinical pharmacology
• Knowledge of intraocular pharmacokinetics
• Able to read and interpret OCT and UBM images
• Experience with fluorescence and absorbance spectroscopy
• Experience performing nonclinical eye surgery
• Able to write and understand GMP documentation
