Lead in your specialist field with a global consultancy

Our client is a global design and consultancy organisation, and they are looking for an Associate Technical Director to take a senior leadership role in their Melbourne office. You will be a trusted technical authority, guiding complex projects, advising clients and helping to grow the next generation of talent.

The role

• Providing technical leadership, advice and oversight on projects within civil engineering
• Developing solutions for clients where standard codes do not offer a clear answer
• Managing the delivery of specialised project components, building the right team and delivering technically complete solutions and reports that meet client expectations and budget
• Managing technical risk, safety and value throughout the design process
• Developing and delivering integrated design programmes, key milestones and reporting at every project stage
• Leading the design team to meet programme and delivery targets, working closely with project managers and carrying out technical reviews
• Coaching and mentoring technical staff, including supporting them towards chartered membership
• Contributing to internal technical excellence groups
• Building lasting client relationships, during and after project delivery, and using your technical insight to uncover new opportunities
• Providing technical input into bids, drawing on your understanding of the client's business and the competitive landscape
• Building your profile in the industry through conference presentations, professional bodies and technical or standards committees, while staying across technical and legislative developments

About you

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)
• RPEV qualification
• 15+ years' consulting experience on projects of significant scale and/or complexity
• Demonstrated technical, commercial and delivery acumen
• A recognised leader with well-established industry networks
• The ability to network and influence at peer level
• Proven leadership skills, including influencing, motivating and delegating
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, both internally and with clients
• A leadership style that is curious, accountable and outcomes-focused, with a genuine commitment to inclusion, innovation and sustainability
