Role Purpose

We are looking for skilled and highly motivated Associate Trainers to deliver employability and vocational training for programmes funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and local council authorities. You will support unemployed and economically inactive people to build confidence, gain qualifications and move into sustainable work, training or further learning.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, learner-centred employability sessions in group and one-to-one settings, in person and online.
  • Teach core employability topics: CV writing, job searching, application forms, interview skills, workplace behaviours and digital skills.
  • Deliver vocational and sector-focused training where qualified, such as construction (CSCS preparation), warehousing, forklift awareness, health and safety, and customer service.
  • Carry out initial assessments and skills scans, and agree individual action plans with participants.
  • Adapt delivery for learners with different needs, including those facing barriers such as long-term unemployment, low confidence, health conditions, disabilities, or literacy and numeracy needs.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance, progress, outcomes and evidence, as required by DWP, council and funder contracts.
  • Help participants move into jobs, work placements, volunteering or further training, working with employers, Jobcentre work coaches and council employability teams.
  • Follow safeguarding, equality and diversity, data protection (UK GDPR) and health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Take part in quality assurance activities, including observations, standardisation and audits.
  • Help keep training materials, lesson plans and session resources up to date.
  • Represent the organisation professionally to partners, referral agencies and stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience delivering training, coaching or employability support to adults.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to motivate and engage diverse groups.
  • Good understanding of the barriers people face when moving into work.
  • Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office and online delivery platforms such as Zoom or Teams.
  • Accurate record keeping and the ability to meet contract compliance requirements.
  • PVG Scheme membership (Disclosure Scotland), or willingness to apply.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle, to travel across the Central Belt of Scotland.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience on DWP contracts or Scottish employability programmes.
  • Knowledge of the Scottish Government's employability landscape and Local Employability Partnerships.
  • Vocational qualifications or industry experience in construction, warehousing, logistics or a related sector.
  • First aid, mental health first aid or safeguarding training.

Personal Attributes

  • Empathetic, patient and non-judgemental.
  • Reliable, organised and flexible.
  • Committed to positive outcomes for participants.
  • Able to work on your own and as part of a wider delivery team.

What We Offer

  • Flexible, sessional work across a range of funded programmes.
  • Competitive day rates.
  • Ongoing professional development and support.
  • The chance to make a real difference to people and communities across Scotland.

Pay: £150.00 per day
