What they need
Clinical Support Audiologist
Alto Hearing | Lutterworth, Leicestershire
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 FTE, pro rata, depending on experience
Hours: Part-time, approximately 3 days per week
Contract: Permanent
An audiology role focused on the practical side of hearing care.
We're looking for a qualified audiologist to join our team at Alto Hearing in Lutterworth, working in a clinical support role alongside our senior audiologist.
This position is a little different from a traditional private audiology role.
Much of your time will be spent providing earwax removal, carrying out basic hearing checks and helping existing patients with their hearing aids. You'll also support our senior audiologist with the ongoing care of our patients.
There are no hearing aid sales targets, fitting targets or commercial expectations attached to this role.
We're looking for someone who enjoys the hands-on, practical side of audiology, likes working with people and takes pride in looking after patients properly.
What you'll be doing
You'll be an important part of the day-to-day running of our Lutterworth clinic, with responsibilities including:
- Earwax removal: A substantial part of the role will involve providing earwax removal appointments, primarily using endoscopic techniques.
- Hearing screening: Carrying out our introductory SoundCheck appointments, helping patients understand their hearing and identifying when a comprehensive assessment may be appropriate.
- Hearing aid support: Helping existing patients with cleaning, maintenance, troubleshooting, connectivity and everyday hearing aid problems.
- Aftercare appointments: Providing routine follow-up care, checking how patients are getting on with their hearing aids and helping resolve any difficulties.
- Supporting the senior audiologist: Assisting with patient care, clinical procedures and follow-up appointments as needed.
- Looking after our patients: Providing friendly, knowledgeable support to people who may have been coming to Alto for several years.
It's a varied role, although earwax removal and hearing aid aftercare will account for a significant proportion of your working week.
About you
We're looking for someone with a qualification in audiology who enjoys practical clinical work and providing excellent patient care.
You might be an experienced audiologist looking for a change of pace, someone returning to work after a career break, or someone who has discovered that they prefer the patient-care side of audiology to hearing aid sales.
You'll need:
- A recognised qualification in audiology.
- Experience working with patients in a hearing-care setting.
- A good working knowledge of hearing aids and common patient problems.
- The confidence to work independently within your areas of clinical competence.
- A friendly, patient and approachable manner.
- Good attention to detail and sound clinical judgement.
Experience in earwax removal would be an advantage, particularly endoscopic wax removal, although we're happy to arrange training for the right person.
Above all, we're looking for someone who is comfortable with the supporting nature of the position and enjoys helping patients with the everyday aspects of their hearing care.
About Alto Hearing
Alto Hearing is an independent hearing-care business with four clinics across England.
Our Lutterworth clinic has an established patient base and a small, experienced team. We place considerable emphasis on the care patients receive after being fitted with hearing aids, with regular follow-up appointments and ongoing support forming part of our approach.
You'll work closely with our senior audiologist and patient care team, helping us provide the level of attention and service our patients have come to expect.
What we offer
- £30,000–£35,000 full-time equivalent salary, pro rata, depending on experience.
- Part-time hours, approximately three days per week.
- No sales targets or hearing aid fitting targets.
- An established clinic with a regular patient base.
- A varied role combining ear care, hearing screening and hearing aid support.
- Training in endoscopic earwax removal where required.
- A small, friendly team and a comfortable working environment.
Interested?
If you're a qualified audiologist who enjoys the practical, patient-facing side of hearing care and would welcome a role without commercial targets, we'd be pleased to hear from you.
