Audit & Assurance Intern

Vine Advisors is seeking a driven Audit & Assurance Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience supporting audit and review engagements. The intern will work directly with experienced staff and managers and assist with assurance engagements, with potential opportunities to support tax engagements based on task availability.

This role is a great fit for accounting students pursuing a CPA license, with opportunities to transition into a full-time staff position after graduation.

This is a part-time internship of 18–24 hours per week, based on task availability as well as the intern’s availability.

Responsibilities:

Assurance (Audit & Review) Tasks

• Assist with preparing and organizing audit and review workpapers
• Tie out financial statement balances to trial balances and supporting documents
• Help with cash, accounts receivable, and accounts payable testing, including sending and tracking confirmations
• Vouch and trace samples of transactions to invoices, bank statements, and contracts
• Assist with fixed asset roll-forwards, depreciation recalculations, and debt schedule testing
• Prepare and update lead sheets and PBC (Prepared by Client) request lists
• Participate in client walkthroughs and help document internal controls
• Assist with analytical procedures for review engagements
• Help perform tie-outs on draft financial statements

Potential Tax Tasks

• Gather and organize client tax documents, including W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, and business records
• Enter data into tax software for individual (1040) and business returns (1065, 1120-S, 1120)
• Perform basic tax research on client questions
• Assist with sales and franchise tax filings
• Perform review tie-outs of completed returns to source documents
• Help with bookkeeping cleanup or trial balance adjustments to support return preparation

General Responsibilities

• Maintain client files and document management
• Communicate with clients to follow up on outstanding requests
• Support senior staff and managers with current engagements
• Learn firm software, such as workpaper and tax preparation platforms

Qualifications:

• Must be a recent graduate or actively working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
• Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility
• Motivation and a strong desire to take on new challenges and learn

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 18.0 – 24.0 per week
