AUDIT ASSISTANT / AUDIT SENIOR

About the role

D K Mak & Co is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Audit Assistant / Audit Senior to join our dynamic audit team. This is a full-time position based in our Sheung Wan office, Central and Western District. The role is fundamental to our audit operations, providing essential support in the execution of financial audits and assurance services for our diverse client base. As an Audit Assistant or Senior (depending on experience level), you will play a key role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial statements whilst developing your professional expertise in auditing and accounting.

Key responsibilities

1. Conducting detailed audit procedures and fieldwork in accordance with relevant auditing standards and D K Mak & Co's quality control procedures
2. Performing substantive testing and verification of financial statement balances and transactions
3. Preparing audit working papers, schedules and documentation to support audit conclusions
4. Reviewing client accounting records, internal controls and financial records for compliance and accuracy
5. Identifying and documenting audit findings, exceptions and areas requiring management attention
6. Liaising with clients to gather necessary documentation, explanations and supporting evidence
7. Assisting in the preparation of audit reports and communicating findings to management and senior audit staff
8. Supporting the audit team in completing assignments within agreed timelines and budgets
9. For Audit Senior level: Supervising junior audit staff, reviewing their work and providing guidance on audit procedures
10. For Audit Senior level: Contributing to audit planning and risk assessment processes

What we're looking for

1. Professional accounting qualification (HKICPA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) or be working towards such qualification
2. For Audit Assistant: 0-2 years of relevant audit or accounting experience
3. For Audit Senior: 3+ years of professional auditing or accounting experience in a recognised firm or corporate environment
4. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards and auditing standards
5. Proficiency in accounting software and audit tools; experience with audit management software is advantageous
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
7. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese (Cantonese)
9. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
10. Commitment to continuous professional development and obtaining relevant professional certifications
11. For Audit Senior: Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience in supervising or mentoring staff
