Audit Intermediate – Australian External Audit

About the role

We are looking for an Audit Intermediate to support Australian clients across external financial statement audits and trust account audits. The role is suited to an auditor with solid external audit experience who can independently perform assigned audit procedures, prepare quality workpapers, and work closely with Australian Audit Seniors and Managers.

Key responsibilities

• Perform assigned external financial statement audit procedures from planning through completion.
• Prepare audit workpapers using Caseware.
• Perform substantive testing, analytical procedures, journal testing, reconciliations, and audit evidence evaluation.
• Review supporting documentation and assess whether audit evidence is sufficient and appropriate.
• Assist with financial statement review and disclosure checks.
• Assist with group audits and basic consolidation procedures.
• Assist with intercompany reconciliations and consolidation adjustments.
• Apply working knowledge of IFRS and familiarity with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).
• Perform assigned procedures for Australian trust account audits.
• Identify audit exceptions, unusual transactions, and potential accounting issues and raise them with the Audit Senior.

About you

• 1–3 years of external financial statement audit experience.
• Practical experience performing substantive audit procedures.
• Experience preparing audit workpapers using Caseware.
• Good working knowledge of IFRS and familiarity with AASB.
• Understanding of financial statements and basic financial statement review.
• Exposure to basic consolidations and intercompany transactions.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Accounting, Finance, or Commerce degree preferred.
• CA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification completed or in progress is preferred.
