Audit Officer

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct branch and operational audits in line with the Bank’s approved audit plan.
• Review branch operations, financial transactions, cash management, loan documentation, and internal controls.
• Examine records and processes to identify control weaknesses, irregularities, and potential risks.
• Conduct reviews of loan disbursement, repayments, collections, and portfolio documentation.
• Verify compliance with internal policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Identify audit findings and recommend practical corrective actions.
• Prepare clear and comprehensive audit reports for management review.
• Follow up on previously identified audit issues and ensure timely implementation of agreed corrective actions.
• Carry out surprise checks, cash counts, stock/asset verification, and other audit assignments as required.
• Support investigations into suspected fraud, operational breaches, or financial irregularities.
• Work with relevant departments to strengthen internal controls and risk management processes.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree/HND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant audit experience in a Microfinance Bank.
• Must have completed NYSC.
• Good understanding of microfinance banking operations, internal controls, and audit procedures.
• Knowledge of loan and branch operations, cash management, and financial controls.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and report-writing skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify control gaps and irregularities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgment.
• Ability to work independently and travel to branches when required.
