Audit Senior

About the role

GTG CPA LIMITED is seeking an Audit Senior to join our audit team. This is a full-time position based in Kwun Tong, Kwun Tong District. As an Audit Senior, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality external audit services to our diverse client portfolio. This position offers the opportunity to develop your technical audit expertise whilst managing client relationships and leading junior audit staff. You will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and contributing to the strategic growth of our audit practice.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute external audit assignments across multiple industries, ensuring compliance with Hong Kong Standards on Auditing (HKSAs) and International Standards on Auditing (ISAs).
• Perform detailed substantive and analytical procedures to verify the accuracy and completeness of financial statements and supporting records.
• Review audit workpapers prepared by junior team members, ensuring they meet professional standards and firm policies.
• Identify and evaluate audit risks, internal control weaknesses, and accounting issues; communicate findings and practical recommendations to clients and engagement managers.
• Supervise and mentor audit assistants and trainees, providing on‑the‑job coaching and constructive feedback.
• Assess clients’ internal control systems and accounting processes, identifying areas for improvement and suggesting value‑added solutions.
• Prepare audit reports, management letters, and financial statement disclosures in accordance with IFRS, HKFRS, and other relevant reporting frameworks.
• Maintain proactive, professional communication with clients throughout the audit cycle – updating on progress, resolving queries, and managing expectations.
• Stay abreast of changes in auditing standards, accounting pronouncements, and Hong Kong regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of audit methodologies, checklists, and digital tools to enhance efficiency and quality.

What we're looking for

• Professional accountancy qualification: HKICPA, CPA Australia, ACCA or equivalent recognised qualification
• A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in external audit or a similar audit-related role within a professional accounting firm or corporate environment
• Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards (HKFRS) and relevant auditing standards
• Proficiency with audit software and accounting systems, and competency with Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail
• Proven ability to manage multiple audit engagements concurrently and meet tight deadlines
• Demonstrated leadership potential with the ability to supervise and develop junior team members
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese
• Professional demeanour with excellent client-facing skills and the ability to build rapport
• High level of integrity, discretion and commitment to professional standards
