Job Summary

The Internal Auditor is responsible for evaluating the financial, operational, and compliance processes within the restaurant to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to company policies and industry regulations. The role involves conducting internal audits, identifying risks, detecting fraud, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring best practices in financial management, inventory control, and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities

1. Financial & Accounting Audits

• Conduct internal financial audits to verify revenue, expenses, and cash handling procedures.
• Assess budget adherence, profit margins, and cost-control measures.
• Audit payroll records, supplier payments, and expense reports for discrepancies.
• Identify potential fraud, misappropriation of funds, or accounting errors.

2. Operational & Compliance Audits

• Evaluate compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all departments.
• Audit inventory management to detect losses, waste, or overstocking.
• Assess restaurant efficiency, staff performance, and service quality.
• Review procurement processes and vendor agreements to ensure transparency.

3. Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with local food safety, health, labor, and environmental laws.
• Conduct safety inspections to identify workplace hazards and ensure emergency preparedness.
• Audit employee adherence to hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety policies.
• Monitor compliance with pest control, waste disposal, and maintenance protocols.

4. Fraud Detection & Risk Management

• Investigate fraudulent activities, theft, or policy violations.
• Analyze POS (Point of Sale) transactions for unauthorized discounts, refunds, or discrepancies.
• Review security protocols to minimize financial and operational risks.

5. Reporting & Corrective Action Implementation

• Prepare comprehensive audit reports outlining findings, risks, and recommendations.
• Work with management to develop action plans to correct identified issues.
• Track implementation of corrective actions and measure improvements.
• Provide guidance and training to employees on compliance and risk management.

6. Process Improvement & Best Practices Implementation

• Recommend improvements to financial controls, operational procedures, and internal policies.
• Stay updated on industry trends, legal changes, and best practices in auditing.
• Assist in updating company policies and internal control frameworks.

Requirements and skills

• Strong accounting knowledge
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software, auditing tools, and POS systems.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial regulations, food safety laws, and labor policies.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial statements, detect risks, and interpret audit findings.
• Attention to Detail: Strong ability to detect errors, inefficiencies, and compliance breaches.
• Communication Skills: Excellent report writing, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ethical Conduct: High integrity in handling confidential information and enforcing compliance.

Pay: ₦100,000.00 - ₦150,000.00 per month

Education:
