Auditor/Accounant

School Choice CPA & Associates is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a well-rounded accounting professional with experience in corporate and individual tax preparation, general ledger accounting, and outsourced accounting services.

Our firm primarily serves schools, nonprofit organizations, small businesses, and their owners. The successful candidate will help clients maintain accurate financial records, prepare tax returns, and receive timely, professional accounting support.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare federal and state business tax returns, including Forms 1120, 1120-S, and 1065
• Prepare individual income tax returns, including Form 1040
• Assist with nonprofit tax filings, including Form 990, when applicable
• Perform monthly bookkeeping and general ledger accounting for outsourced accounting clients
• Complete bank and credit card reconciliations
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments
• Review balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements, and general ledger activity for accuracy
• Prepare monthly and year-end financial reports
• Maintain accounts payable, accounts receivable, and supporting schedules
• Assist clients with accounting cleanups, year-end close, and preparation for audits or tax filings
• Communicate directly with clients regarding questions, missing information, and accounting recommendations
• Manage multiple client engagements and meet established deadlines
• Support firm leadership with special accounting, tax, and advisory projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• At least three years of relevant accounting and tax-preparation experience preferred
• Hands-on experience preparing both business and individual tax returns
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statement preparation
• Experience providing outsourced accounting or client accounting services is strongly preferred
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
• Experience with professional tax-preparation software is preferred
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple clients, responsibilities, and deadlines independently
• High level of accuracy, professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
• CPA, EA, or CPA-track candidates are encouraged to apply but licensure is not required

Compensation

The position pays $30–$40 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and the ability to independently manage tax and outsourced-accounting assignments.
