What they need

Autism Support Worker – Ivybridge

14–28 hours per week | Including sleep-in support

Are you calm, patient and naturally observant?

We are looking for a kind, reliable and fun Support Worker to provide consistent 1:1 support to an individual in the Ivybridge area.

This role would suit someone who understands that behaviour is communication, and who can respond thoughtfully rather than reactively.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is calm, patient and consistent, and understands the importance of routine and predictability.
  • Is comfortable providing 1:1 support and building trust over time.
  • Has a warm personality and a good, light-hearted sense of humour.
  • Can adapt communication to suit sensory needs, preferences and mood, while maintaining clear boundaries.
  • Notices small changes in behaviour, mood or routine and can adapt support accordingly.
  • Encourages independence while providing the right level of support when needed.
  • Is comfortable with quiet moments and doesn't feel the need to fill every silence.
  • Enjoys films, older TV programmes and getting out for a drive.
  • Is reliable, organised and confident working independently.
  • Understands the importance of clear recording and consistency within a team.

The role includes:

1:1 support, daily living tasks, community access, appointments, outings, meaningful activities, following support plans and sleep-in support.

A full, clean UK driving licence is essential, and you should enjoy driving.

Previous autism/care experience is desirable, but the right personality, attitude and ability to build trust are equally important.

If you're someone who is calm, caring, observant and doesn't need to fill every quiet moment, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and tell us a little about yourself and why you think you'd be a good fit for this role.

Pay: £12.75-£13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 14.0 – 28.0 per week
