Auto Mechanic

Job Summary

We are seeking a hands on mechanic to take full technical responsibility for the maintenance and repair of Maple Kitchens and Confectionery's delivery fleet of petrol and diesel vans and light trucks. This role is strictly practical. You must be capable of working independently, diagnosing faults, and returning vehicles to service quickly. Please do not apply for the role without prior commercial vehicle repair experience.

You will be directly responsible for:

• Engine Systems: Servicing, diagnosing, and repairing petrol and diesel engines across the fleet.
• Preventive Maintenance: Running a scheduled servicing and inspection programme to prevent breakdowns before they occur.
• Breakdown Response: Attending to vehicles that fail on delivery routes and restoring them to service with minimum delay.
• Electrical and Diagnostic Systems: Diagnosing electrical, injection, and air conditioning faults using scanning tools and manual methods.
• Running: Repairing brakes, suspension, steering, clutch, gearbox, and cooling systems.

Roles and Responsibilities include:

• Service, diagnose, and repair petrol and diesel delivery vans and light trucks.
• Plan and execute a preventive maintenance schedule around delivery times so vehicles are serviced off route, not during trading hours.
• Respond to roadside breakdowns and return vehicles to service quickly.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and injection faults using both diagnostic tools and practical methods.
• Maintain accurate service logs, repair records, and parts usage records for each vehicle.
• Identify recurring faults and recommend long term fixes.
• Advise management on vehicles whose running costs indicate they are approaching end of life.
• Ensure proper use, handling, and storage of tools and spare parts.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• 5+ years hands on experience repairing commercial vans and light trucks. Please do not apply for the role without prior commercial vehicle repair experience.
• Competence on both petrol and diesel engines.
• Experience with common delivery vehicles such as Toyota Hiace, Dyna, Mitsubishi Canter, Isuzu, T king etc
• Ability to diagnose faults using both computerised diagnostic tools and hands on methods.
• Trade test certification or equivalent workshop training.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Discipline in maintaining accurate service and repair records.
