General Position Summary: Repairs and overhauls automobiles, buses, trucks, and other automotive vehicles by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned)

· Examines vehicle and discusses with customer or Automobile Repair Service Estimator, Automobile Tester, or Bus Inspector nature and extent of damage or malfunction.

· Plans work procedure prior to task

· Raises equipment, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to lower parts as well as keeping proper ergonomics while performing task

· Disassembles equipment and inspects parts for wear and replaces as needed

· Overhauls or replaces carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps

· Rewires ignition system, lights, and instrument panel.

· Immediately report all Incidents/Accidents, no matter how small, to their supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

· Diagnose and repair automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.

· Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and inspections.

· Interpret diagnostic test results and develop effective repair plans.

· Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on vehicles.

· Communicate effectively with supervisor regarding vehicle issues and recommended services.

· Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in the workshop.

· Collaborate with team members to improve overall efficiency and service quality.

· Stay updated on the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational training program in automotive repair preferred.

· ASE certification or equivalent is a plus.

· Proven experience as an auto mechanic or in a similar role.

· Strong knowledge of automotive systems and repair techniques.

· Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

· Strong communication and customer service skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).

· Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments.

· Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, and bending.

Minimum Education/Experience: 2 years
