AutoCAD Draftsman

ASAS Steel – UAE is looking for an experienced Structural Steel Draftsman to join our team.

The Structural Steel Draftsman will be responsible for preparing accurate structural steel shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and detailed technical drawings based on engineering designs, project specifications, and site requirements. The ideal candidate must have excellent and advanced AutoCAD skills, strong attention to detail, and practical knowledge of structural steel fabrication and detailing.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed structural steel shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and assembly drawings using AutoCAD.
• Read, understand, and interpret structural, architectural, and engineering drawings.
• Prepare accurate plans, elevations, sections, details, and fabrication drawings.
• Develop and modify drawings according to engineering requirements and project specifications.
• Ensure all drawings are accurate in terms of dimensions, levels, sections, connections, and material details.
• Review drawings before issuing them for fabrication and identify any discrepancies or missing information.
• Coordinate with structural engineers, project engineers, supervisors, and fabrication teams to resolve technical and drawing-related issues.
• Make drawing revisions based on engineering comments, site conditions, and fabrication requirements.
• Prepare drawings that are clear and practical for the workshop fabrication team.
• Maintain proper control of drawing revisions and project documentation.
• Ensure drawings comply with project requirements, company standards, and applicable specifications.
• Support the engineering and fabrication teams with technical drafting requirements.
• Complete assigned drawings accurately and within project deadlines.

Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma or degree in Drafting, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Excellent and advanced proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Structural Steel Draftsman or in a similar position.
• Strong experience in preparing structural steel shop and fabrication drawings.
• Excellent ability to read and interpret structural and engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of structural steel components, fabrication methods, and workshop processes.
• Strong knowledge of dimensions, sections, elevations, details, and steel connections.
• Ability to identify drawing discrepancies and provide accurate drafting solutions.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently as well as coordinate effectively with engineers and fabrication teams.
• Good communication and time-management skills.
• Experience with Tekla Structures or other structural detailing software is an advantage.
