JOB DESCRIPTION – AUTOCAD ENGINEER (CIVIL CONSTRUCTION)

1. Job Summary

The AutoCAD Engineer will be responsible for preparing, modifying, and maintaining accurate 2D civil and structural drawings using AutoCAD. The role involves coordinating with architects, structural consultants, MEP teams, and site execution teams to ensure drawings comply with approved designs, project specifications, and construction requirements.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Drawing Preparation and Drafting

• Prepare and revise 2D civil, architectural, and structural drawings using AutoCAD.
• Develop floor plans, sections, elevations, foundation layouts, column layouts, and other construction drawings.
• Prepare reinforcement detailing drawings, beam and slab layouts, and staircase details based on approved structural designs.
• Prepare setting-out drawings, grid layouts, and dimensioned construction drawings.
• Develop detailed working drawings for RCC structures, masonry, flooring, waterproofing, and other civil works.
• Prepare as-built drawings based on actual site conditions and approved changes.
• Maintain proper drawing scales, dimensions, annotations, layers, line types, and plotting standards.

B. Drawing Coordination and Review

• Review architectural and structural drawings for dimensional consistency and coordination.
• Identify discrepancies, missing details, and potential clashes between drawings.
• Coordinate with architects, structural consultants, MEP engineers, and site engineers for drawing clarifications.
• Incorporate revisions and maintain updated drawings as per approved instructions.
• Ensure that only the latest approved drawings are issued for construction.
• Maintain a drawing register and revision history.

C. Site Coordination

• Coordinate with the site execution team to understand construction requirements.
• Provide drawings and technical details required for site execution.
• Verify site measurements and incorporate approved changes into drawings.
• Assist in resolving drawing-related site issues and technical queries.
• Prepare sketches and revised details for approved changes during construction.
• Support quantity take-offs and measurement calculations from drawings, where required.

D. Documentation and Drawing Management

• Maintain soft copies and hard copies of drawings in an organized manner.
• Follow document numbering, revision control, and drawing submission procedures.
• Prepare drawing transmittals and maintain records of drawings submitted to clients and consultants.
• Ensure compliance with project drafting standards and drawing templates.
• Maintain proper backups and document control for all drawing files.

3. Educational Qualification and Experience

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification.
• 2–5 years of experience in AutoCAD drafting for civil construction projects.
• Experience in residential, commercial, high-rise, or industrial building projects is preferred.
• Practical knowledge of architectural and structural construction drawings.
• Experience in preparing working drawings and as-built drawings.

4. Technical Skills Required

• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D drafting.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
• Knowledge of civil construction methods, RCC components, foundations, beams, slabs, columns, and staircases.
• Understanding of drawing scales, dimensions, sections, elevations, and detailing.
• Knowledge of layer management, blocks, external references (Xrefs), layouts, and plotting.
• Familiarity with PDF-to-DWG conversion and drawing comparison tools.
• Working knowledge of MS Excel and PDF documentation.
• Knowledge of Revit, BIM, or other design software is an added advantage.

5. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Accuracy and quality of drawings.
• Timely submission and revision of drawings.
• Number of drawing errors and rework incidents.
• Compliance with approved drawings and project standards.
• Timely resolution of site drawing queries.
• Proper maintenance of drawing registers and revision records.

6. Roles and Accountability

• Ensure drawing accuracy and consistency before submission.
• Incorporate only authorized design changes.
• Maintain proper revision control and prevent the use of obsolete drawings.
• Coordinate with the project team to minimize drawing-related errors and construction delays.
• Escalate design discrepancies to the responsible engineer or consultant for clarification.

7. Working Conditions

• Full-time position at the head office or construction project site.
• Coordination with design, engineering, and site execution teams.
• Occasional site visits and extended working hours may be required depending on project deadlines.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
