Automatic Door Installer / Technician

Full-Time/Part Time Position Overview

Our Client, Alldoor Access, is seeking an Automatic Door Installer / Technician to install, service, and troubleshoot automatic door operators, sensors, and accessibility equipment. This role requires experience with low-voltage wiring, electronics, and electromechanical systems. While direct automatic door experience is an asset, candidates from related technical trades are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is a specialized, niche role suited for someone with a strong mechanical and electronics background who enjoys hands-on technical work and problem-solving in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Install automatic door operators, handicap access equipment, sensors, push plates, and control systems
• Perform low-voltage wiring, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues
• Conduct preventative maintenance and safety inspections
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer manuals
• Ensure installations meet building codes, accessibility standards, and safety regulations
• Complete service reports, documentation, and work orders
• Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, and internal team members
• Work independently or as part of a small installation team

Required Skills & Experience

• MUST HAVE Experience with automatic doors, access control, or door hardware
• Experience with electronics and low-voltage wiring
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Comfort using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical documentation
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and ability to travel
• Physically capable of lifting equipment and working on ladders or lifts
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness

Assets (Not Required but Strongly Valued)

• Background in related fields such as:
• Access control / security systems
• Low-voltage technician
• Elevator and gate
• Commercial glass and glazing service/install
