Automation and Controls Engineer

The Automation and Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, specifying, programming, testing, and commissioning complete industrial automation systems for new equipment from initial concept through final turnover. Responsibilities include defining control requirements and system architecture; selecting and specifying enclosures, control panels, PLCs, HMIs, local and remote I/O, industrial networks, instrumentation, junction and summing boxes, motor controls, VFDs, safety devices, and electrical components; developing electrical CAD drawings, control schematics, panel layouts, I/O lists, cable schedules, sequences of operation, and bills of materials; creating PLC and HMI applications; reviewing vendor and panel shop deliverables; and supporting factory testing, field installation, troubleshooting, startup, operator training, and final as-built documentation while ensuring compliance with applicable electrical, safety, customer, and industry standards.
