Automation Engineer / Siemens & Industrial IT Specialist

Remote Position with International Travel

Are you an experienced automation engineer who enjoys taking full responsibility—from system architecture and programming to commissioning a complete industrial plant?

We are looking for a hands-on Automation Engineer to develop and commission advanced automation and IT solutions for industrial process plants delivered to customers worldwide.

This is a remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere. However, international travel to factories and customer sites for testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and technical support is an essential and expected part of the role.

Your responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

• Programming Siemens PLC and HMI systems
• Developing projects in Siemens TIA Portal
• Designing automation architecture and process-control solutions
• Integrating PLCs, HMIs, databases and external IT systems
• Configuring industrial networks and communication protocols
• Developing Python-based tools and integrations
• Implementing data logging, reporting and remote-diagnostic solutions
• Testing automation systems during FAT and SAT
• Commissioning and troubleshooting industrial plants internationally
• Preparing clear technical documentation
• Providing remote technical support to customers
• Collaborating with mechanical, electrical and software engineers throughout the entire project

Although your normal workplace can be anywhere in the world, this is not a purely desk-based programming position. You must be willing and able to travel internationally and work directly with machinery at factories and customer sites.

Mandatory professional experience

Applicants must have documented, hands-on professional experience in:

• Siemens PLC and HMI programming
• Siemens TIA Portal
• Industrial automation and process control
• Commissioning and troubleshooting industrial plants
• Python programming
• Industrial IT and system integration
• Industrial networks and communication between PLCs, HMIs, databases and IT systems
• Data logging, reporting and remote diagnostics

Documented project experience is essential

Candidates must be able to present actual industrial projects in which they were personally responsible for Siemens automation and IT-related work.

Your application should briefly describe:

• The industrial plant or machinery involved
• The Siemens hardware and software used
• Your personal responsibilities
• The systems and interfaces you developed
• Your involvement in commissioning and troubleshooting
• The final operational result

Academic qualifications and training courses are valuable, but they are not sufficient on their own. We are looking for someone who has personally programmed, integrated, commissioned and supported real industrial systems.

The person we are looking for

You are practical, structured and able to work independently in a remote environment. You remain calm when technical problems arise and know how to identify the cause rather than simply treat the symptom.

You take ownership of your work and understand that successful automation requires close coordination between software, electrical systems, mechanical equipment and plant operations.

You must be comfortable communicating professionally in English and travelling internationally when projects require your presence on site.
